Sammamish Study is a maquette for a commissioned work, Almost Square that was installed in 2009 at the Sammamish Library in Washington State. A picture of the commission, which is made up of 4 six-foot-square units is below.

It is an example of the kind of piece that Tim calls a “Carpet.” (Or, actually, as he says, an example of the subset “Shag Carpet”.) His studio has made a number of variations on these flexible horizontal planes of linked plates over the years. They are all made to be lightweight enough to revolve and distort according to the whim of the air currents in an interior space.
